Flags for Freedom

 Please join us in honoring those who protect and preserve our freedom!

The City of Shawnee is joining the City of Merriam in Flags for Freedom a patriotic display celebrating our freedom and honoring our Veterans.  Over 2,000 American flags will be displayed in downtown Shawnee and downtown Merriam, June 30th to July 7th, 2007 .  This event is organized by citizens and business owners partnering with the Shawnee Downtown Business Association.

Flags for Freedom Event Schedule:

• Saturday, June 28th - Field Set-up and Opening Ceremony
• Friday, July 4th - 11:30 pm Patriotic Program at the Merriam Marketplace
• Saturday, July 5th - Closing Ceremony and Field Take-Down

Sponsor a Flag: Individual flags can be sponsored for $25.00 to fly as part of the display.  A personalized yellow dedication ribbon can be displayed for an additional $1.00.  All proceeds will benefit the Shawnee Downtown Business Association.

Volunteer: Be a part of the event by assembling flags, field set-up, or field take down.
