Shawnee Town is an outdoor museum interpreting small town rural life from the 1840s through the early 1920s. Situated on 3 acres, take a stroll and visit our buildings and grounds featuring a home, barn, school, post office, chapel, fire station, various businesses, and gardens.
Follow our progress in Fall 2007 as our museum expands to tell the story of life in Shawnee, Kansas in the Twenties.
Come visit the permanent exhibit on display at the Shawnee Town, "Old Town, New City" explores the history of Shawnee from when it was inhabited by Native Americans to present day. Shawnee’s rich history is depicted through graphics, maps, artifacts, and other collectibles. Visit Shawnee Town and learn about how Shawnee grew into the City it is today.Shawnee Town is open from March through October. School programs are available.
