Shawnee Town
Shawnee Town visitors churn butter

Shawnee Town is a living history museum that tells the story of life in a small farm town in the 1920s. From March through October visitors can stroll through buildings and grounds featuring a home, barn, school, post office, chapel, various businesses, and gardens. Costumed interpreters bring the era to life through a variety of programs and activities during special events and school group visits.

Shawnee Town's Visitors Center features a permanent exhibit on display, "Old Town, New City", that explores the history of Shawnee from when it was inhabited by Native Americans to present day. Shawnee’s rich history is depicted through graphics, maps, artifacts, and other collectibles. Visit Shawnee Town and learn about the area's farming heritage and how Shawnee grew into the City it is today.

Shawnee Town is open from March through October, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tue-Sat. The Visitors Center and Exhibit are open year round, Mon-Fri from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. School programs are also available. Visit for more information.
