Mid-America
West Sports Complex (MAWSC) is the name the Johnson County
Park and Recreation District established in mid-2004
for the facility at 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, previously
known as the Johnson County Girls Athletic Complex. The
name change was meant to reflect that the facility also
provides recreational opportunities for girls, boys,
adults, and other users groups and is also located in
close proximity for the Mid-America Sports Complex. The
12 outdoor youth softball fields with related amenities
were built in 1989 and is the host facility to many youth
softball leagues, tournaments and camps.
The Okun Fieldhouse is JCPRD's 56,500-square-foot
addition within MAWSC. The complex houses four basketball
courts and eight volleyball courts. The Okun Fieldhouse
was constructed in 1999 and is the host to many youth
basketball leagues, volleyball leagues, tournaments
and camps.
