May 13, 2008 “Do, Make Do, or Do Without: Daily Life in Kansas 1861- 1961”
Daily Life in Kansas from statehood until the early 1960s was a century of challenge and change for its citizens. To be successful, settlers had to learn how to do, make do, or do without. Our speaker, Phillip Thomas, will examine the nature, dilemmas, and pleasures of daily life for men, women, and children from statehood to the middle years of the 20th century. Slides and artifacts will accompany Thomas’ presentation.
